How do I get to By The Sea Port Douglas?

We are very easy to find! Port Douglas is 70km north of Cairns.

From Cairns airport, follow the Captain Cook Highway until the Port Douglas turnoff, then follow Port Douglas Road all the way until it meets Macrossan street, and turn right. We are 72 Macrossan Street, on the left hand side, the second building from the beach.

If you need to hire a car, we recommend Avis and Budget for the convenience of collecting your car from Cairns Airport when you arrive.



How do I get there if I’m not driving?

The most popular way is to book a coach to meet your flight. Seats are around $32 each way, and if you would like us to arrange your transfers for you,

Private cars can be booked for around $200 one way. If you would prefer this service, call or email us for more details.


What are your reception hours, and what are your check-in and check-out times?

Reception is open from 8 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. Monday – Saturday. On Sunday we close at 2.00 p.m.

Check-in time is 1.30 p.m. and check-out time is 10.00 a.m.

You’re very welcome to check in earlier if you arrive in Port Douglas before 1.30. We can store you luggage and offer advice on where to find the best coffee while your room is cleaned. Early arrivals are also welcome to start using all our free facilities such as free beach gear and bike hire.

If you are arriving after 5.30 p.m. we’ll leave a letter for you on our Late Arrivals noticeboard. This will have directions to your room and some other handy info to help you settle in, and we’ll see you in the morning for check-in.

Our wireless is fast, free, and reliable! Each room has a wireless modem so that you aren’t sharing your connection with your neighbours. Wired internet is also available

We have laptops and iPads for you to borrow, free of charge.


Tour Bookings?

We provide a free tour booking service, and expert impartial local advice. Let us help you choose the activities and tours that suit your style and needs.

All charges go on your room account to settle
when you depart.


Do you have a pool?

Yes we have a lovely pool, and it is kept at a perfect temperature of 29-30 degrees throughout the year for your swimming comfort.

We also provide heaps of free extras to make your stay as enjoyable as possible – including beach towels, beach chairs, toys and games, iPad and laptops, shopping trolleys, access to hundreds of DVDs, free bike hire, and lots more

MONEY MATTERS


What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellation is free of charge up until 28 days before your arrival

-If you cancel within 28 days of arrival we charge the first night’s accommodation

-If you cancel within 8 days of arrival the full amount of the booking is charged

All cancellations must be in writing via email. We must stick to our cancellation policy in all cases, but your travel insurance should cover this so don’t worry.


How can I pay for my accommodation?

Almost any way you like! We accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, and you are welcome to pay by cash, eftpos, or bank deposit if you prefer. Credit card transactions carry a 1% surcharge.

Please note that we don’t accept American Express.
If paying by direct deposit, please ensure you do this before you arrive.

Do I need to make a deposit?

If you have booked one room, then no deposit is required, we simply take your credit card info to secure your booking.

If you have booked two or more rooms we do ask for a 25% deposit within three days of making your booking. We will contact you to arrange this.


HOUSEKEEPING


Do you service rooms daily?

We provide a free room service and bed change every fourth day if you stay for seven nights or more. If you would like a service more frequently than this, we can certainly arrange this for you, for a small additional charge that is added to your room account.

We also provide a free daily rubbish removal service and also change your bath and beach towels as often is required.


Do you have laundry facilities?

Yes, we do! All of our family rooms (including Studio 44) have their own private laundry facilities.

We also have washers and dryers on site for all of our other lovely guests to use. It costs $3 to wash and $3 to dry and we provide complimentary washing powder.

Each room has its own iron, ironing board, and hair dryer to keep you looking fabulous for your whole holiday!
